At the time when there were no cars but only carriages and horses, there was only an inn or hotel Accommodation or...you just called "hotel in the ninth" because it was the ninth and last stop before tackling the steep hill that led into the city of Orvieto. Here carriages or lonely travelers would stop for refreshment, rest and then spend the night, but especially for re shoeing horses ..... and then tackle the next morning the steep hill that led to Orvieto, from that solitary inn today ....
